He kōrero mōu | About You

Someone positive, confident, empathetic by nature, and open to working within a Kaupapa Māori framework. You will have a good understanding of culturally appropriate delivery of mental health services and confidently use tikanga Māori in your daily practice. As a registered health professional, you will have strong professional ethics and a holistic, client-centered, strength-based, trauma-informed, and rights-based practice approach. Previous exposure to the mental health sector is preferred but not essential.

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to use your professional experience to deliver comprehensive clinical assessments, intervention plans and activities to our clients experiencing a range of complex mental health and addiction issues. You will support and empower the people we support with skills and knowledge that will enhance their rangatiratanga and enable them to achieve their long-term goals. You will be the key liaison point for clinical services and will provide support to the manager, and contribute to enhancing the work of your team.

What you will need to have:

  • Be registered with the relevant professional body and hold a current annual practicing certificate

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a clinical role

  • Have an understanding of the current issues facing people experiencing mental illness, including co-existing problems and awareness of the Equally Well initiative

  • Be culturally respectful, non-judgmental and inclusive
  • Be confident in crisis situations
  • Excellent clinical judgement and strong professional boundaries

  • Commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi and sound understanding of tikanga Māori
